Installation of Internet Reports

Introduction
DHI Internet Reports have been designed to decrease the time between the visit from your CSR/Field Technician and the receipt of your valuable herd management information. This User Manual is designed to help you complete the required setup (only done once), and guide you through the steps to viewing and perhaps also printing your reports from your computer.

The process of receiving your reports over the Internet has been designed to be very simple and user-friendly provided you have the necessary software installed. Once you have installed the software on your computer and have received your reports once or twice you may not need to refer to this manual again.

This manual has two main sections. The first section consists of the steps to install the software required on your computer, which only needs to be completed once.  The second section explains how to receive your reports from the DHI website, view and perhaps print those reports.

If you have any questions as you proceed through this manual please call our Customer Service Desk at 1-800-549 4373.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05c Installation (Install Once)
Adobe Acrobat Reader is free software that enables you to view and print documents exactly as the writer/creator wanted you to see them.

This installation process is required if you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.05c (or greater) installed on your computer. If you are unsure of the existence of the software or the version, please follow the download and installation instructions below regardless.

On the www.canwestdhi.com website, select Internet Reports, then select signing up for internet herd reports, then select the Adobe Acrobat download now link.

After a few seconds the File Download window will appear, see below.

(The file that will download is 5.6MB in size therefore your download time may be quite lengthy depending on your connection speed to the Internet, for example a 56K modem download will take approximately 25 minutes. Slower modems will take more time. Be patient and remember that you have to do this only once!)

PowerArchiver Installation (Install Once)
PowerArchiver is free software that allows for compressing and decompressing of electronic files. The compressing of the files makes the files smaller in size ensuring Internet download time is kept to a minimum.

This installation is required only if you do not have PowerArchiver or WinZip compression software installed on your computer. To verify whether or not WinZip is installed on your computer, click on the 'Start' button, WinZip would appear above 'Programs' at the top of the Start button menu. If you have WinZip installed on your computer, you do not need to install the software in the steps below, go to section 5 of this manual.

If you do not already have WinZip, on the www.canwestdhi.com website, select Internet Reports, then select signing up for internet herd reports, then select the PowerArchiver download now link, you will see the window below.

Click on Save.  You will see the window below.

Beside filename (see below) type the following: C:\windows\desktop\powarc61.exe

Then click the Save button to see the file download status window, seen below.

The file that will download is 1.7MB in size therefore your download time may be quite lengthy depending on your connection speed to the Internet, for example a 56K modem download will take approximately 10 minutes.

Once the download is complete, close your Internet connection, and please restart your computer. On the Windows desktop you will notice a new icon for PowerArchiver, see below.

Please double-click on the powarc61.exe icon to run the PowerArciver installation. In the Setup window, click Next, please see below.

When the installation is complete, you will see the window below, click Finish.

A configuration window may appear, click Ok in that window, then close the PowerArchiver window.

Using internet reports initial setup (complete once!)

You will notice in the window above that a list of accessible files is displayed.  Only the most recent file for each test and up to 90 days of test information will be kept accessible from the website.

You will also notice that the Test Date is 'underlined' indicating the link to that herd file for that test date.

Click on the test date for the corresponding reports you wish to access.  You will see a File Download window, see below.

You have the option to view the file (to print) or save it to your computer for future reference. To VIEW, click Open.  To SAVE, click Save. It is advantageous to save the file for that test date on your computer for future reference of those files.

If you decide to Save, the Save As window appears, see below, please change the File name: to the following:

That's it!

Remember that if you provide your email address to your CSR/Field Technician, after each test you will automatically receive an email notification when your reports are ready.

If you have any questions regarding the downloading and viewing of your herd reports, please contact the DHI office at 1-800-549-4373.
